Toshiba Disk Drive Stops Working

Today I had the joy of fixing a problem caused by one of Vistas buggy drivers. Apparently it is very common for the DVD drives Toshiba Laptops to corrupt their own driver and stop working. Usually these types of problems can be fixed by clicking 'Start' and right clicking on 'Computer' and selecting 'Manage'. The Computer Management opens and from their you can click on 'Device Manager' select the device and uninstall the driver. Reboot and Windows will reinstall it.

Of course, the Toshiba DVD drives have to be more complicated. To fix them you have to remove their upper and lower filters from the registry. If your DVD drive has stopped working, try the steps below to fix it:

If Your DVD Drive Stops Working   You can right click and save the picture for future reference. Hope this helps.

Sidenote: the drive I had problems with was a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K1A ATA
